A new ensemble of four of Britain's leading baroque soloists makes its debut in a programme of works by Telemann, Rameau, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

The name ''Melante'' was an anagram used by Georg Phillipp Telemann (1681-1764) for his name.

Mahan Esfahani performs music from the heart of the harpsichord repertoire, ranging from works by Froberger and Louis Couperin – two of the 17th century's subtlest masters – to one of the great 'English Suites” of Bach. In between comes one of Johann Kuhnau's extraordinary 'Biblical Sonatas,' often cited as among the earliest examples of representational programme music.
