Mahan Esfahani directs cantatas and instrumental music of seventeenth-century Germany, including works by Johann Kuhnau and Johann Rosenmueller (Bach's predecessors at the Thomasschule in Leipzig) and the wedding cantata written for Bach's own parents by Bach's kinsman Johann Christoph Bach, ''Meine Freundin, du bist schoen.'' Bojan Cicic leads the ensemble from the violin.

This is the first concert in 'The Bach Project,' a long-term endeavour to explore the sacred vocal works of Bach and his predecessors and family members.

*A personal note* - this is part of a rather exciting new initiative with the 'Echori Soloists,' a London-based group of young English singers, and handpicked instrumental soloists, and this is one of the group's first major projects in London.
