Mahan Esfahani performs music from the heart of the harpsichord repertoire, ranging from works by Froberger and Louis Couperin – two of the 17th century's subtlest masters – to one of the great 'English Suites” of Bach. In between comes one of Johann Kuhnau's extraordinary 'Biblical Sonatas,' often cited as among the earliest examples of representational programme music.
